Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 Highlights

Manny Pacquiao defeated Juan Manuel Marquez by a majority decision on their fight night in MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada on November 12, 2011. Many pro Marquez fans didn't like the judges decision and their reaction echoed the entire MGM grand arena with boos and disappointment. Juan Manuel Marquez was so disappointed that he walked out of the ring without giving a post fight interview in the ring. However, HBO commentator, Max Kellerman was able to interview him in his dressing room with a spanish interpreter. Juan Manuel Marquez's interview with Max Kellerman basically revolved around how he was robbed during the fight and that he had clearly won the fight.

Manny Pacquiao's interview on the other hand with Max Kellerman showed confidence that he won the fight. Manny Pacquiao believed that Marquez didn't want to fight and that all he did was to wait for him to make a mistake.

Was the controversial fight between Pacquiao and Marquez really a robbery as what Marquez and his trainer claimed to be? Absolutely not.

Here are my reasons why:

1.) To beat a champion, you must show aggression and win convincingly in front of the judges. Marquez fought well and countered Pacquiao well, no doubt that Marquez and his trainer Nacho Beristain did an excellent job in preparing for this fight. However, you cannot win a fight without pressing the fight to happen. Waiting for your opponent to make a mistake and throw the first punch will not cut to win it. Marquez was the challenger and to be a able to beat the champ Manny Pacquiao in front of the 3 judges, he must show them that he is hungry to take the title away from Pacquiao and initiate the action to fight. The rounds were close but would the judges give a 10-9 round in favor of Marquez if all he did was to wait for Pacquiao to take action? I don't think so. Maybe at least knock him down or something.

2.) Foot Stepping by Marquez-One other thing boxing fans noticed during the fight was Juan Manuel Marquez stepping on Manny Pacquiao's foot several times. Was this intentional or a dirty tactic? View this video from Michaeldseller

3.) Based on the punch stats from HBO, Pacquiao still came up with higher percentage of total punches that landed compared to Marquez and threw more punches than him. Clearly, Pacquiao was more aggressive than Marquez during their fight. In addition, Judges don't just base their decision with punches. If the round is almost even, they will give the fighter the winning round based on ring generalship.

3.) Marquez's psychological aspect of him winning the fight and thinking that he's winning every round made him lose the fight. He back pedalled, he waited, and left a negative impression towards the judges. He could have pressed the action the last two rounds, and yet he didn't.

With every great boxing matches there are always 2 warriors battling it out in the ring. No holding back and no retreat. Marquez'z performance was a disappointment to me. He made this third fight against Pacquiao one step lesser fight than the other two as far as excitement was concern. All he did the whole fight was wait for Manny Pacquiao to make a mistake and counter him. He did not press the action. He was to cautious to mix it up and engage to action first. He back pedalled as if he was too scared to make a mistake and get knock down again. He probably believed that if he didn't taste the canvas during the fight, he would win the fight. He should've thought that he should've engaged to action and work to have knocked Pacquiao down instead of him thinking how he shouldn't get knock down to win.

Now that you've watched the Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 Highlights, was it a robbery? I don't think so. The fight between Pacquiao and Marquez for the third time was not a robbery. It was quite a controversy for boxing fans who didn't really understand the dynamics of boxing and also for fans that were expecting Manny Pacquiao to knock Marquez out during this fight.

Now that you've watched the video prediction, who do you think will win between the Filipino spit fire Manny Pacquiao and the Mexican sensation Juan Manuel Marquez?

Do you want to hear my prediction? Alright boxing fans, here's my short prediction to this upcoming boxing match. This will be a competetive fight just like the first 2 encounters between these fighters. The key to this fight is played by Juan Manuel Marquez. How will he fight with his heavier weight and will he maintain his speed and power in this weight class. Manny Pacquiao has already proven himself fighting at a heavier weight successfully. He kept his speed and power and continued to polish his boxing skills in the ring. Manny Pacquiao was quite raw when he fought Marquez during his first two meetings with him. He surely learned and honed his skills more. Marquez's fight against Mayweather at a heavier weight wasn't too impressive. It was clear that the additional weight slowed him down and decreased his punching power. As to my prediction, I will take Manny Pacquiao to win by a technical knockout in round 11 or 12. Pacquiao's speed and power will be too overwhelming for Marquez as the fight goes on to later rounds.
